Nana Patekar, who claims that he hardly watches Bollywood films, reveals that he thinks Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra are among the “finest actors” B-Town has produced in recent times. “Deepika is a very nice girl. I also like Priyanka a lot. They are amazing actors,” he says.

Patekar adds that he “would like to cast Deepika” in his upcoming directorial film provided she likes the script. And, of course, the producers should be able to afford her. “If she likes it, she will have to sit with the producer to talk about the remuneration. If everything works out, I’d love to have her in the film,” he says.

Ask him what his second choice is, if things don’t work out with Deepika, and he says, “Then I will go ahead with a new girl.” Patekar is certain that the audience will watch the film in either case. “People, who want to watch the film because it’s my movie, will do so. And then the actors, who would turn down the film because of budget constraints, might regret it.”
