Another book about Julia Child is set to be published by her great nephew, this time delving into a pivotal phase of her career when she found her footing with a more “American voice.”
According to Publisher’s Weekly, Alex Prud’homme will be penning a follow-up to his New York Times bestseller “My Life in France” with “A Cook’s Tour,” set in the 1970s.
If the title sounds familiar, that may be because another famous chef and popular media personality used the title first in his 2002 book.
Though not nearly as genteel and jolly as the statuesque Child, Anthony Bourdain published “A Cook’s Tour” and has also enjoyed an illustrious TV career in food, a fame he found late in life.
Child, too, began her TV career in the second half of her life at the age of 50.
Meanwhile, Prud’homme’s book will also draw back the curtain on Child’s decision to distance herself from her longtime collaborator Simone Beck and how she found her own voice along the way, says Publisher’s Weekly.
Recently, Child was also turned into a cartoon heroine in a 32-page comic book "Julia Child: Female Force" that traced her journey from her days at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris to her debut as a popular TV host of “The French Chef.”
