5 best coffee festivals from around the world
Celebrate International Coffee Day on October 1, with these top global coffee festivals picked by a coffee connoisseur
‘Brewed’ food
The Singapore Coffee Festival, Singapore
When: June
The Singapore Coffee Festival that was held last year was Singapore’s first coffee festival that had over 100 exhibitors from the coffee world! The most remarkable part was that all the food had coffee-related elements, and my favourite has to be the pork with a coffee glaze and the earl grey tea-infused coffee.
For the coffeemeisters
World of Coffee, Europe
When: June
This is one of Europe’s most exciting coffee events and is organised in different cities every year. This year, it was held in Budapest. This is an interactive exhibition with four full days of thrilling competitions and plenty of entertainment, excitement and fun fringe events such as espresso bars and cupping sessions!
Beyond a cuppa
Coffee Santhe, Bengaluru
When: December
Coffee Santhe, India’s only coffee festival, is an annual fundraising event organised by the Women’s Coffee Alliance – India Chapter, is an initiative to empower women in coffee. This one goes beyond brewing, as there are beautiful paintings made from brewed coffee to jewellery revolving around coffee, which showed how coffee but inspires innovation in all forms.
Roasting ideas
Global Specialty Coffee Expo, Seattle
When: April
This expo is huge and has everyone from commercial companies with their innovative coffee machines to a small roaster. Even though this festival is targeted more towards the coffee industry than consumers, it is trendsetting as it launches new equipment, like the ceramic filter, which is travel-friendly and allows to brew clear coffee. This is a fantastic way to reduce waste, bet you didn’t know that!
Global talent
Coffee Expo Seoul, Korea
When: April
A four-day event with state-of-the-art espresso machines, speciality brews and baked goodies, this festival is witness to talents from different countries. Indonesia was the preferred guest at the expo this year and Nepalese coffee was one of the bigger attractions.
