If you weren’t a musician you would have been?
A mountaineer.

What part of economics (that you studied in college) helps you with your music?
When I am chased for payments.

What inspires you?
The very fact that Earth is the only planet that has life, makes me feel incredible.

Making music is your profession. Does listening to music become a chore?
Listening is a simultaneous process. Music is my passion and not a job for me.

Hawaii chappals.

Are a lot of women impressed by a man who knows his music?
Yes. The kind of music that I have done needs a certain amount of intellectualism.

The newest gadget that you’ve acquired?
A telescope. I like astronomy.

What kind of movies do you like watching – a hinterland gangster flick like Gangs of Wasseypur or the low-budget, realistic Vicky Donor?
I am quite happy with a film like Vicky Donor.

One song that always lifts your spirits?
“Zindagi Kaisi Hai Paheli...” from the film Anand.

Your favourite jingle/ad?
Kal Bhi Aaj Bhi…the jingle for a VIP luggage commercial.

Live music vs recording?
Live music – the atmosphere is real and charged up.

Your 3 am friend?
My iPod.

What touches your heart?
A great melody.

Your favourite hangout in Delhi?
Hauz Khas Village.

The best street food of Delhi that makes you nostalgic?
Shakkar Kandi.

What makes your day?
Having my friends over with no agenda in mind.

Five lemons.

Your favourite travel destination?
Leh. Just came back from there recently.

If i could...

I would climb Mount Everest: I really enjoy mountaineering
I would work as a chef in a Michelin-star restaurant
Travel to the Moon
Support and revive the folk musicians of India
They are in a pathetic state at the moment
