DGCA allows Vistara to fly in foggy weather
NEW DELHI: Vistara that is promoted by Tata Group and Singapore Airlines has received CAT III-B certification from the aviation regulator for low-visibility operations.
NEW DELHI: Vistara that is promoted by Tata Group and Singapore Airlines has received CAT III-B certification from the aviation regulator for low-visibility operations.
CAT III-B enables an aircraft to land when the visibility is down to 50 metres.
“The certification could not have been timed better for Vistara. It is the highest level of low-visibility rating awarded in India. The certification will enable Vistara to safely operate under foggy conditions in the northeast and northern parts of the country in the beginning and end of the year,” the airline said.
“We always endeavour to minimise the inconvenience faced by our customers during flight delay or diversion due to inclement weather. This certification will allow us to provide a seamless flying experience to our valued customers,” said Phee Teik Yeoh, CEO, Vistara.
Vistara, which has a fleet of 13 A320s come with the integrated CAT IIIB auto land system, operates 430 weekly flights. The crew, the airline said, had already been trained for extreme low-visibility operations.
