Rajaram’s acquired the entire stake held by co-founder and his now estranged wife Ambiga Subramanian, who became CEO in February. While financial details were not disclosed, Rajaram will hold 51.6% stake in Mu Sigma after the deal. Existing investors, including General Atlantic and Sequoia Capital, will remain.
A unicorn is a company valued at over $1 billion. General Atlantic had valued MuSigma at $1.5 billion in August when it scouted for buyers for its stake.
“Ambiga has made tremendous contribution to Mu Sigma. She has agreed to support me in continuing to build my dream and will continue to be on our board. It is good to finally put all distractions behind,” Rajaram said in a statement.
Subramanian said, “Due to personal circumstances, it is time for me to move on from the management team of the company and do something different.” She dismissed rumours that she was starting a competing company to Mu Sigma.
