India's fiscal deficit from April to November was 1.86 trillion rupees ($41.6 billion), or 48.9% of the full-year target, the government said in a statement on Friday.

Net tax receipts were 2.96 trillion rupees and total expenditure was 6.90 trillion rupees during the first eight months of the current financial year that began in April.

In February 2010, the government had forecast a fiscal deficit of 3.81 trillion rupees, or 5.5% of gross domestic product, for the current financial year.
