BSNL to implement broadband connectivity in Vijayawada

BSNL has prepared a Rs 5 cr project to be implemented in the city to ensure reliable boardband connectivity for corporate and business houses.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has prepared a Rs 5 crore project to be implemented in the city to ensure reliable boardband connectivity mainly to be used by corporate and business houses.

Speaking after presenting 'Bharat Sanchar Saradhi' and 'Sanchar Seva Padak' awards in Vijayawada on Tuesday, chief general manager (Telecom), Andhra Pradesh circle, V Surya Sriramulu said the department has already identified about 100 spots in Hyderabad to implement multi-user services.

"We are studying potentialities in Vijayawada also and will soon try to implement the same here," Sriramulu said.

Technological development in the telecom field had improved tremendously and so a new 'HDSL' system would be introduced by which a telephone subscriber could have Internet connections, different TV channels and conference facility in his house through his telephone, Sriramulu said.

In Andhra Pradesh alone, BSNL has 3.25 lakh cellular connections to its credit, he said adding, "though we have been able to get more connections there is need to strengthen its quality services".

Sriramulu presented five 'Bharat Sanchar Sarathi' awards and three 'Sanchar Sevak Padak' awards to BSNL personnel.
