The government on Friday cleared 29 proposals for setting up of special economic zones (SEZs) in the country.The Board of Approval (BOA) at its meeting in New Delhi gave formal approval to 23 SEZs and in-principal nod to six other projects.A total of 34 SEZ proposals were taken up by the board chaired by Commerce Secretary Gopal Pillai.Of the 23 formal approvals, 17 were for IT and ITES in Kerela, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
