Ahead of next week's Union Budget, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Friday said the government will implement only those recommendations of the Kelkar Committee report on tax reforms which are considered "worth implementing".

"Government was not bound to accept the entire report. The government would implement only such recommendations which it considered worth implementing," Vajpayee told newsmen when asked about the Centre's stand on the controversial Kelkar report.

Vajpayee said the document was a report of a bureaucrat and an economist and government was under no obligation to implement it in toto.
