Idea Q4 net up 29% on high data usage

Idea Cellular, an Aditya Birla group company, today posted a 29% year-on-year rise in its consolidated net profit to R308 crore for the quarter ended March, from R239 crore a year ago, driven by growth in voice minutes and high data usage.

Idea Cellular, an Aditya Birla group company, on Thursday posted a 29% year-on-year rise in its consolidated net profit to R308 crore for the quarter ended March, from R239 crore a year ago, driven by growth in voice minutes and high data usage.

Total revenues for the company rose 13 % to R6,061 crore from R5,370 crore in the corresponding period last year.

“The Q4, FY’13 has the highest data adoption by Idea Customers’ with 4.5 million sequential quarter addition, as the EoP (End of Period) base of data users grew to 26.2 million, now contributing 6.6% to service revenue,” said the company.

Net profit of the company rose 40 % at R1,011 crore as compared to R723 crore in the last year.

Shares closed at R116, up 1%, on the BSE on Thursday.
