Ranbaxy Laboratories, India's top drugmaker by sales, on Monday reported a quarterly profit compared with a loss in the year-ago quarter.

New Delhi-based Ranbaxy, in which Japan's Daiichi Sankyo owns a controlling stake, said its standalone fiscal third quarter ended September was Rs 1.86 billion ($40 million), compared with a loss of 3.53 billion a year earlier.
