The fresh order is for setting up a new complex which will manufacture aromatic products like paraxylene and benzene at the Mangalore Special Economic Zone in Karnataka.

The project, claimed to be the country's single largest paraxylene unit, is expected to be ready for commissioning by December 2012. It involves nine processing units, Larsen and Toubro said in a regulatory filing.

The engineering, procurement and construction contract has been secured by the company's hydrocarbons business group.
