Monsoon is deficit so far: Chavan

The monsoon has been deficit so far in some parts of the country but will improve between July and September, Minister of State for Science and Technology Prithviraj Chavan said.

The monsoon has been deficit so far in some parts of the country but will improve between July and September, Minister of State for Science and Technology Prithviraj Chavan said on Monday.

"The monsoon has been deficient in some parts as far as the month of June is concerned. But rainfall is expected to be above average in months of July, August and September," Chavan told reporters in New Delhi.

He said the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the monsoon to be above average this year.
