Nafed invites bids for import of 25,000 tonnes of yellow peas
Agri-cooperative major Nafed has invited bids for importing 25,000 tonnes of Canadian yellow peas to be delivered by June 20.
Bids will close on April 11 and the decision on the tender will be taken by April 18, the cooperative said on its website.
Nafed said that bidders should source yellow peas grown in the 2009 crop year in Canada and the shipment should reach eastern or western coast latest by June 20.
In a separate tender, the agri-cooperative major has invited bids for importing unspecified quantity of pigeon peas (tur), black matpe (urad), red lentils (masoor) and green gram (moong).
The specified pulses should be sourced from the current crop from any country. The bids will close on April 11 and the shipment is expected to reach Indian ports by June, it said.
Nafed, MMTC, PEC and STC import pulses on behalf of the government to augment domestic supply, which is estimated to be lower at 14.74 million tonne in the 2009-10 crop year against the annual demand of 17-18 million tonne.
