NALCO profit shoots 31% to Rs 1,069 cr

Navratna public sector unit National Aluminium Co Ltd (Nalco) has returned impressive results, both in sales and profit for 2010-11, riding on better market realisation, higher production and sales.
Nalco said on Monday that it had a net profit of Rs 1,069.30 crore against the previous year's Rs 814.22 crore, a rise of 31%. Sales were Rs 5,959 crore against the previous year's Rs 5,055 crore, a rise of 18%.
It added that during the year the average sales realisation per tonne of alumina went up to $350 (Rs 15,785) from $264 (Rs 11,906.4) in 2009-10.
