Refinery stocks lift Sensex by over 300 points

Aided by a surge in refinery and metal stocks, the benchmark Sensex on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Monday closed higher by 301 points.
Marketmen said trading sentiments turned bullish after the recently-listed Reliance Power on Sunday announced a bonus issue to its shareholders, excluding promoters. Anil Ambani- promoted Reliance Power, after its board meeting on Sunday, had announced three bonus shares for every five shares.
The 30-share Sensex shot up by 301.50 points at 17,650.57. The key index saw the day's high of 17,674.06 and low of 17,137.99 points.The major support to market came in from stocks of oil and gas, metal, capital goods and realty segments.
Similarly, National Stock Exchange Index Nifty closed higher by 89.95 points at 5,200.70, after touching the day's of high of 5,212.35 and a low of 5,055.15 points respectively.
