Strengthening of the euro against the dollar overseas and a higher opening in the domestic equity market further supported the rupee.

The rupee had closed marginally lower by two paise at 54.16 against the dollar in Wednesday's trade.

Meanwhile, the BSE benchmark Sensex rose further by 42.66 points, or 0.21%, to 20,032.84 in early trade.
