The 30-share index, which had lost over 310 points in the previous session, bounced back by 98.94 points, or 0.56 per cent cent to 17,479.02 points in the first five minutes of trading.

The wide-based National Stock Exchange's Nifty rose 28.05 points, or 0.53 per cent, to 5,243.50 points.

Brokers said expectations of good quarterly earnings by companies and a firming trend in the US market mainly influenced the trading sentiment.
