The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex hit a new intra-day peak of 14,734.63 points on Monday on the back of surging capital goods, banks and metal stocks.
The Sensex added nearly 84.12 points at 14,734.63 points surpassing its previous record set of 14,723.88 on February 9.
The rally in the stock market was due to a constant rise in capital goods, banking and metal sectors' share prices.
However, auto, IT and health care indices were still below their peak on February 9.
