Sensex up 0.4 per cent in early trade

The sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange, which opened at 17,458.76 points, within minutes rose to 17,534.37 points, up 73.79 points or 0.42 per cent from its previous close.

A key Indian equities index started positive at opening bell on Wednesday and was ruling about 0.42 per cent higher than its previous close, minutes into trade.

The sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 17,458.76 points, within minutes rose to 17,534.37 points, up 73.79 points or 0.42 per cent from its previous close at 17,460.58 points.

At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty was at 5,259.35 points against the previous close at 5,230.1 points, a gain of 0.56 per cent.

Broader market indices were also in the green, with the BSE midcap index up 0.49 per cent and the BSE small cap index ruling 0.81 per cent higher.
