Sensex up 173 pts to 12,125.99

The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex jumped by over 173 points in early trade today on emergence of buying by funds at existing low levels.

The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex jumped by over 173 points in early trade on Thursday on emergence of buying by funds at existing low levels.

The 30-share barometer, which had tumbled 178 points in the last trading session, gained 173.24 points to 12,125.99 points in early trade.

Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty fell by 48.95 points to 3,674 points.

Marketmen said the stock market gained strength as funds began buying after shares prices plunged in the last session.
