Mahindra launches Thar RWD at ₹9.99 lakh: All you need to know
The SUV comes in three variants, of which the costliest is priced at ₹13.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
Mahindra on Monday launched Thar RWD (Rear-Wheel Drive) at a starting price of ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), going all the way up to ₹13.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Thar RWD is available in three variants, of which AX(O) RWD-Diesel MT-Hard Top is the cheapest, while LX RWD -Petrol AT-Hard Top is the costliest.

The third variant, LX-RWD Diesel MT-Hard Top, on the other hand, is available for ₹10.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Customers, should, however, note that these are all introductory prices, and valid only for the first 10, bookings. Deliveries will commence on January 14.
Mahindra Thar RWD: Powertrain
In this off-road SUV, Mahindra has provided two engine options. The first, a D117 CRDe unit, generates maximum power and peak torque of 117 bhp and 300 Nm respectively. The second, a petrol motor with the mStallion 150 TGDi unit, produces 150 bhp maximum power and 320 Nm peak torque. These are connected to manual and automatic transmissions, respectively.
For now, the SUV comes in two colour options: Blazing Bronze and Everest White.
‘More accessible to a wider range of customers’
According to the homegrown manufacturer, the Thar RWD is now more accessible to a wider range of customers who may, otherwise, not have the need to use its all-wheel-drive capabilities.
“By offering these new variants, we have made it much more accessible to those who wanted to live the ‘Thar life.’ We are confident the new range will further spark the thrill to explore the impossible and add new enthusiasts to the Thar lifestyle,” HT Auto quoted Veejay Nakra, President, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra, as saying.
