Volkswagen's made-in-India Virtus debuts in Brazil: All you need to know

The Brazilian variant comes with several changes over its Indian counterpart.

Volkswagen has launched the made-in-India Virtus in Brazil, with the Brazilian model getting a host of changes over its Indian counterpart. The compact sedan, which arrived in India in June last year, is manufactured from Volkswagen's plant in Maharashtra's Chakan.

Exports of the made-in-India Virtus commenced last year, with the first batch being exported to Mexico.

Here's all you need to know about the Brazilian variant of the car:

(1.) In contrast to the Indian version, which uses LED projector lens in headlamps, the Brazilian one gets different LED Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs), as well as LED reflector headlamps.

(2.) Also, it has larger alloy wheels; the Virtus Exclusive variant in Brazil gets sportier cosmetic changes, including side skirts, a rear spoiler, and darkened accents for a sportier look.

(3.) While the cabin is largely the same in both, the new model gets a matte brown and black-themed cabin. The colour scheme for the Indian version's cabin is black and biege.

(4.) The new one, however, misses out on features such as an electric sunroof and ventilated front seats. It does get an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which is missing in the Indian version.

(5.) Powered by the same 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol engines, the Brazilian model only has a 6-speed torque convertor, and misses out completely on the 6-speed manual and Direct-Shift Gearbox (DSG) transmission choices.
