2 held for possessing smack worth over Rs 2 lakh

Two persons, including an employee of Kharar chemical laboratory, have been arrested for possessing 47 grams of smack on Wednesday. The police claimed the recovered drugs were worth Rs 2.5 lakh.

The accused have been identified as Manjeet Singh who was working as security guard with a private company and resident of Abhaypur in SAS Nagar, and Vicky, a Class 4 employee of Kharar chemical laboratory, who is a native of Kholi Khera in Fazilka.

The duo's bike was stopped at a police check post at a check post near the civil hospital. The police are now investigating where the two secured the drug.

Both have been booked under sections 21/61/85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act and will be produced before a local court on Thursday.
