Director general of police (DGP) SN Vashisht informed a fact-finding panel of the Press Council of India (PCI) here on Saturday.

Later, talking to reporters, panel member Rajeev Ranjan Nag said Vashisht told the panel that there were no instructions to police personnel to attack mediapersons and that it could be a mistake on the part of individual cops.

The members of the panel, set up by PCI chairperson Markandey Katju, were here and called on chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar and the DGP.

Khattar assured the committee that the BJP government had taken note of the incident and it was being investigated.
The panel comprised journalists Nag, Sondeep Shankar and Krishna Prasad.
