A case of possessing counterfeit seal under section 473 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at the Sector-34 police station.
Giving details, the police said Vikas, Neeraj and Dalip of Phase 2, Ramdarbar, and Sudarshan Kumar of Lalru were caught near the fire station in Sector 32 on Tuesday along with a Maruti car.
On verifying, the police found that the car had fake registration number (CH-01-Y-732) instead of original number CH-01Y-7328.
The police said they were carrying out verification and questioning the car occupants when Neeraj managed to escape. The police said efforts were on to nab Neeraj.
The police said questioning was on to know from where the car was lifted by the four and were they involved in any kind of other vehicle thefts.
