39 lakh tonnes of paddy procured

Government agencies and private millers procured more than 39.37 lakh tonnes of paddy till Sunday evening. Of the total paddy, government agencies procured 36 lakh tonnes (91.4%) and private traders 3.37 lakh tonnes (8.6%).

Government agencies and private millers procured more than 39.37 lakh tonnes of paddy till Sunday evening. Of the total paddy, government agencies procured 36 lakh tonnes (91.4%) and private traders 3.37 lakh tonnes (8.6%).

Till October 20, Pungrain had procured 10.4 lakh tonnes (29%); Markfed, 8.5 lakh tonnes (23.7%); Punsup, 8.22 lakh tonnes (22.8%); Punjab State Warehousing Corporation (PSWC), 3.33 lakh tonnes (9.3%); and Punjab Agro Foodgrains Corporation (PAFC), 3.57 lakh tonnes (9.9%). Central government agency Food Corporation of India (FCI) procured 1.9 lakh tonnes (5.4%).

Ferozepur district topped the chart with 5.16 lakh tonnes of paddy procurement, followed by Patiala district (4 lakh tonnes).
