61 teachers found absent, 61 long time absentees

Special teams of the Punjab education department on Tuesday conducted surprise visits in Jalandhar, Faridkot and Nabha circles and found 61 teachers absent, enlisted 61 long-time absentee teachers and 150 latecomers, a spokesman said here.

It was the third such surprise checking drive in the past three weeks. As many as 43 teachers were found absent, 114 were latecomers and 35 were enlisted as long-time absentees in the Jalandhar circle.

In Nabha (Patiala) circle, four teachers were found absent, 17 were latecomers and 14 long-time absentees. In the Faridkot circle, 14 were found absent, 19 were latecomers and 14 long-time absentees.

Necessary action would be taken against all these defaulters as per directions of education minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema, the spokesman said.
