After exam scam, cautious PGI bans jewellery, stationery in fresh exam

According the instructions put on its website by the institute on
Tuesday evening, the institute instructed the candidates not to
bring in mobile phones, pager, pen, wrist watch, ring, wallets,
ladies purse, ornaments including earrings, nosepin, bangles, rings
etc or any other electronic device to the examination hall.

The institute also said that the candidates with these devices will
not be permitted to enter in the examination hall. “The examination
centres are not responsible for the safe custody of the belongings of
the candidates and they have to make their own arrangement for their
safe custody,” the institute said.

The sources in the PGIMER administration revealed that this time the
special focus is on the female candidates as last time most of the
candidates who were found leaking the paper by using hi-etch gadgets.
The institute also declared that the frisking of all the candidates
will be carried out at the entry of the examination premises from 8 am
onwards by the security officials at the entry point.

The institute has also said that candidates will be provided with a
ball pen by the institute in the examination hall. Besides that the
videography, still photography and biometric finger print capturing of
the each candidate will also be done during the examination. And 10
minutes extra time will be given to the candidates.

Significantly institute had conducted an entrance examination for
admission to medical/surgical postgraduate courses on November 10.

During the exam, the CBI arrested several persons who were using
hi-tech devices for helping some candidates cheat; it was found that
several candidates did not have the mandatory MBBS degree to be
eligible for the postgraduate medical examination. Most of these were
girls from Andhra Pradesh. The gang kingpin was identified as P Gurivi
Reddy (31), a medical dropout hailing from Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh).

The entry of the candidates in the examination hall is permitted
from 8 am to 9.30 am only on the production of roll number
slip/admit card issued by the institute. The entry to the examination
hall will be closed at 9.30 am hours sharp. The candidates are
advised to not carry even envelope of the admit cards.
