Amritsar coldest at 7.2 deg C

Amritsar was the coldest place on Saturday in Punjab recording a minimum temperature of 7.2 degrees Celsius, which was two notches below normal, even as some parts of Haryana received overnight rains.

Amritsar was the coldest place on Saturday in Punjab recording a minimum temperature of 7.2 degrees Celsius, which was two notches below normal, even as some parts of Haryana received overnight rains.

With cold conditions persisting in the plains of the region, Ludhiana also had a cold night at 9.2 deg C, one below normal, while the low at Patiala settled at 9.4 deg C, down two notches, the MeT department said.

Chandigarh, which has slightly cloudy sky on Saturday, also experienced the chill at a minimum of 8.6 deg C, two below normal level.

In Haryana, Hisar, which was lashed by 2 mm of rain, recorded a low of 10.3 deg C, down one degree.

Karnal, which received light showers, recorded a low of 9 deg C, down two notches. Bhiwani, which received 6.8 mm of rain, registered a low of 10.6 deg C.

Rohtak, too, was lashed by showers at 5.8 mm. The low in the city settled at 10 deg C, down one degree.

Gurgaon, however, had a three degree above normal minimum at 12.5 deg C.
