Anil Vij finds irregularities in MC during conducts surprise

During a surprise visit, health minister Anil Vij found several irregularities in the municipal corporation (MC) office on Tuesday and forwarded a bunch of complaints to chief minister for appropriate action. Vij examined the records of various branches of the MC.

During a surprise visit, health minister Anil Vij found several irregularities in the municipal corporation (MC) office on Tuesday and forwarded a bunch of complaints to chief minister for appropriate action. Vij examined the records of various branches of the MC.

He also ordered the removal of a contractual employee who had left office after marking his attendance and sought explanation from another staffer who was on furlough.

The health minister also pulled up a clerk who had not forwarded the pension papers of retired employees. Sources told HT that during the inspection Vij found out that 141 grievances of residents were unattended for years and ordered sealing of the register for sending it to the CM.

Moreover, rent worth crores of rupees had not been collected by the lease branch for several years. The added that the minister found the department not issuing death and birth certificates on time while hundreds of mutation files lay pending since 2006.

Vij ordered that building plans should be sanctioned within 25 working days and the residents should be informed of progress of their cases.

The minister also scrapped the contract with Reliance Company as the latter failed to properly maintain the Subhash Park.

Later talking to media persons, Vij said the government was committed to providing clean and transparent administration and has zero tolerance towards corruption.

He asserted that as the government has changed in the state the bureaucracy also needs to change its mind set.
