Punjab Congress chief Partap Bajwa's nephew Kanwar Partap Singh Bajwa was elected as general secretary of the Punjab Youth Congress. He is son of his younger brother, Fateh Jung Bajwa, who is a general secretary in Punjab Pradesh Congress Commitee (PPCC).

Bajwa is the youngest candidate in the poll fray. He won with highest margin from his nearest candidate in the elections for the Punjab Youth Congress. The post of secretary also went to kin of a senior party leader. Deepinder Randhawa is nephew of Congress MLA Sukhjinder Randhawa.
