Ateli gangrape, murder: ex-MLA seeks protection for victim's kin

Ateli's former legislator Naresh Yadav on Friday has demanded protection in seven days for the family of a minor victim of gangrape who was killed on November 1 in the Mahendragarh district town.

Ateli's former legislator Naresh Yadav on Friday has demanded protection in seven days for the family of a minor victim of gangrape who was killed on November 1 in the Mahendragarh district town.

He submitted a memorandum to Haryana governor Kaptan Singh Solanki in this regard and said in an interaction with the media here, later, that the relatives of the four arrested accused were now threatening the victim's family to force it to withdraw the case.

"The victim's family continues to protest at Ateli," he said. "The deputy commissioner of Rewari had assured it of `50 lakh compensation but it neither has the amount, so far, nor any other official or leader has visited it," he added.

On November 1, a girl (9) from a poor family was gangraped and killed, and the four accused included Ateli businessman Arun Kumar. The autopsy confirmed rape as well as cigarettes burns on the body.Yadav threatened to intensify the protest at Ateli, if the administration failed to act in seven days.
