Badal reviews flood protection works

Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday asked the relief and rehabilitation department to place adequate funds at the disposal of deputy commissioners to effectively combat any eventuality arising out of floods in the current monsoon season.

Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday asked the relief and rehabilitation department to place adequate funds at the disposal of deputy commissioners to effectively combat any eventuality arising out of floods in the current monsoon season.

Badal was presiding over a meeting with the deputy commissioners of flood-prone districts of Rupnagar, Nawanshahr, Ferozepur, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Moga and Kapurthala to review the progress of flood protection works.

The chief minister asked the financial commissioner, revenue, to immediately sanction Rs 10 lakh, in addition to the already released Rs 10 lakh, for strengthening flood protection works at vulnerable sites in consultation with the chief engineer (drainage).
