Badals seek PM's intervention in US shooting incident

Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and deputy chief minister, and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal have described Sunday's firing incident in a US Gurdwara as 'deeply painful, shocking and highly condemnable'.

The chief minister has urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene in the matter immediately and ask the US authorities to ensure security of devotees and the sanctity of the religious shrines all across US.

An official spokesman said, the deputy chief minister was monitoring the situation in New Delhi and would take up the issue with the central government.
