Bhavan Vidyalaya's students shine in CBSE exams

Two students from Bhavan Vidyalaya, sector 27 have topped in different streams in the tricity in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 12 examinations which were declared on Monday.

Navya Singla from Bhavan Vidyalaya, sector 27 topped in commerce with 98% while her schoolmate Pallavi Sharma with 96% topped in humanities. Mohit Gautam from Government Model Senior Secondary School, sector 37 topped in the non-medical subjects with 97.4%.

Over 80 per cent students cleared the CBSE examinations, with girls once again outshining boys. The total pass percentage stood at 80.19 per cent, a fall of 0.69 per cent over last year, said a statement issued by the CBSE.

Girls continued to fare better than boys with 86.21 per cent clearing the exam as compared to 75.80 per cent boys.

In all, 8,15,749 students registered for the Class XII examination this year, which was an increase of about 5.94 per cent over 2011.
