David informed the chief minister that various universities in the UK had signed MoUs with IIT Ropar for partnership in research and teaching programmes and now they were trying to initiate skill development training in various trades, a spokesman said here.

He said the British Council would initiate a joint venture with two community colleges of the state at Jalandhar and Bathinda.

Looking forward to a meaningful cooperation with the UK, especially in education and skill development, Badal sought technical support for the state government's health care programme to combat cancer by establishing well-equipped cancer treatment hospitals.

The chief minister said the state would like to have cooperation from abroad in the IT sector, especially in dealing with cyber crime.
