Providing a self-assessment tool to schools, the Central Board of Secondary Education has launched an online facility, 'Saransh', where schools can access the performance of Class-10 students over the past seven years and of Class-12 students since 2009.
The facility will help schools get important information to improve the quality of teaching and learning, and initiate steps to take corrective measures.
"Schools generally use various analyses to identify what's working or what should be done to improve the quality of education. This facility will provide concrete evidence to enlighten the deliberations that schools have about teaching and learning,"stated the circular released by the CBSE.
A local CBSE counsellor, Rakesh Sachdeva, said 'Saransh' aimed to enrich the learning and teaching experience, which would ultimately benefit all stakeholders.
"It is a tool for the comprehensive self-review for schools affiliated to the board,"she said.
As per the information, schools will be able to understand the complete comprehensive picture of marks obtained by students of Class 10 since 2007, and Class 12 since 2009, to the latest academic session.
It will provide a snapshot and comprehensive drill-down analysis of problem-solving abilities (PSA) test in Classes 9 and 11. The new facility launched by the CBSE will help schools to analyse their performance in scholastic and co-scholastic areas at an aggregate level, and at the level of each student.
The good thing about the tool is that it will show a student's performance through numbers and charts/graphs- representing students' performance through all these years.
Now schools affiliated to the board will be able to compare their performance vis-à-vis all CBSE schools at various levels such as all India, regional, state and within their school category (government, private, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNVs), Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), and central Tibetan schools administration).
