Chandigarh court notice to Rahul Gandhi for personal appearance
A Chandigarh court on Thursday issued notice to All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Rahul Gandhi, seeking his personal appearance on November 27 to answer charges of use of defamatory words against people belonging to Uttar Pradesh.

A local court on Thursday issued notice to All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Rahul Gandhi, seeking his personal appearance on November 27 to answer charges of use of defamatory words against people belonging to Uttar Pradesh.
In a speech on November 15, 2011, in Phulpur, Uttar Pradesh, during the assembly poll campaign, Rahul had allegedly asked, "For how long would UP's youths go and beg in Delhi, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh?"
The court of judicial magistrate Mahesh Grover issued the notice on a petition filed by local advocate Arvind Thakur, chairperson of NGO Global Human Rights Council, under Sections 500 (defamation) and 504 (insult) of Indian Penal Code.
