A local court on Friday sentenced Bablu Kumar, 21, a resident of Nayagaon, to 14-year imprisonment for raping his younger sister.

Bablu Kumar was arrested by the Nayagaon police on August 5 last year and was booked under sections 376 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The 15-yearold victim had complained to the police that Bablu had been raping her for four years and threatened her with dire consequences if she complained about it to anyone. She, finally, told her parents about the crime.

The court based on the victim’s statement and chargesheet filed by the police held the accused guilty. A fine of Rs 1 lakh was also slapped on him. In case the accused fails to pay the fine, he will have to serve an additional year in jail.
