Channy set to be Punjab CIC

Sarwan Singh Channy, a 1982-batch Punjab-cadre IAS officer who retired recently, is set to be appointed chief information commissioner (CIC) of the state information commission.

Sarwan Singh Channy, a 1982-batch Punjab-cadre IAS officer who retired recently, is set to be appointed chief information commissioner (CIC) of the state information commission.

Punjab governor Shivraj Patil on Friday cleared the file pertaining to the appointment of Channy and the oath-taking ceremony will be organised shortly, government sources said.

The search committee headed by chief secretary Sarvesh Kaushal and comprising principal secretary (governance reforms) C Roul and Lt Gen BS Dhaliwal (retd) had recommended a panel of three candidates to the committee for the final decision.
