City mayor distributes certificates to passing out urban poor beneficiaries

City mayor Poonam Sharma, who was the chief guest on the occasion, distributed certificates to 95 passing out urban poor beneficiaries along with specially-designed training kits.

In the convocation, 41 beneficiaries were scheduled class, 22 were general/backward class and 32 were minorities. They were also provided a stipend of Rs 1000.

On the occasion, Sharma appreciated the work towards socio-economic empowerment of young poor beneficiaries, particularly women, taken up by the urban poverty alleviation wing of the civic body led by social development officer Vivek Trivedi.

She also announced a budget of Rs 2 crore for the local initiatives and grand activities towards urban poverty alleviation for the urban poverty wing, which was previously proposed to Rs 50 lakh.
