Col GS chadha takes Charge as PU Registrar

A day after he retired from the army, Colonel Guljit Singh Chadha ( retd) on Wednesday joined Panjab University (PU) as its registrar.Sources in PU said that Chadha was to join PU after the Dussehra vacations, but the date had to be advanced as a senior faculty member of PU reportedly approached Punjab and Haryana high court on Tuesday, on his appointment.

Apprehending a stay on the appointment, senior officials talked to him on Tuesday evening and he flew from Pune to Chandigarh on Wednesday morning. It is not immediately clear whether the high court has entertained the faculty member’s plea on his appointment. “Normally, it takes even 10-15 days to get an appointment letter after the senate meeting. However, here it was all done in a hushhush manner,” a senior faculty member told HT.

Chadha said, “Everything has happened in a transparent manner (referring to his appointment) and I have been clear,” he said.
