According to state election office’s orders, special high school and college level competitions will be organised to make people aware about their ‘right to vote’ and for making their voter I cards.
District election officer-cum-deputy commissioner, SS Phulia, stated that committees had been formed in this regard and that the district education officer has been appointed as the nodal officer, the nodal officer (sweep) and additional deputy commissioner will be constituted for coordination with committee members to ensure these competitions were held successfully.
He further informed that a school-level essay contest would be held at Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 6, on August 20 at 10 am followed by a school-level speech contest at 11am. District education officer, block education officer, Pinjore, principal of Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 12, will be the members of the committee.
Similarly, on August 21, a college level competition of Rangoli making will be organized and at 11 am essay writing and at 12 pm college level speech contest on the subject situation of electoral democracy in India will be held. District education officer, principal of Government Girls College, Sector 14, principals of Government College, Kalka and Government College, Sector 1 will be the members of the committee. “The committee will send the results of competitions to the office of District Election office till August 25 with signatures of the committee members,” he added.
