Asserting that the Dasuya by-poll was completely rigged, Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh said on Saturday there was "nothing surprising about the result".
He alleged that the ruling alliance had not only resorted to blatant abuse of power but had completely subverted the democratic process by rigging the election.
Capt alleged that the unrealistic victory margin was enough testimony as how much the elections were rigged by the ruling alliance the way they had been during the MC elections last month.
The PPCC president said that the huge vote margin between the BJP and the Congress candidates is in itself indicative of how the Akali-BJP alliance abused its power in a brute manner.
He maintained that the result was no endorsement of the performance of the SAD-BJP government but only betrayed its desperation and nervousness that it had to rig the elections for a victory.
