Dhoni bowls over motorists by his traffic safety tips

However, passers-by and motorists were clearly bowled over at Sector 5 in Chandigarh on Tuesday morning to see the explosive batsman appealing to people to follow traffic rules and put on seat belts while driving.
Dhoni's appearance on the city roads was part of UT police endeavour to rope in celebrities to drive home the message of road safety.
Himself a motorbike enthusiast who owns as many as 22 of the lean machines like Harley Davidson and Hellcat, Dhoni stood by the roadside and urged motorists to wear safety helmets while riding two-wheelers and fasten seat belts while driving automobiles. He also owns a motorbike racing team known as Mahi Racing Team India.
“I was surprised to see Dhoni mingling with city residents on the roadside this morning and briefing them about the importance of abiding by traffic rules,” remarked a banker Arun Sharma who was on way to his office.
Dhoni also talked to Chandigarh police officials to get an understanding of traffic safety rules enforced in the City Beautiful. He also shared tips from his own experiences to achieve goals.
The Indian skipper also told police officials that it was vital not to lose sight of one's aim and to approach the life's goal in a slow and steady manner.
The star batsman made quite a few fans among women police constables. Visibly elated over her meeting with the Indian star cricketer, UT traffic police constable Sonia Dhankar said, “Dhoni's appearance came as a whiff of fresh air in our mundane existence and we too will now work real hard to become champions in our own field.”
UT IGP RP Upadhyaya pointed out that the word of celebrities carried a lot of weight not only among the city residents but also the police force. He added that they were planning to get more celebrities, including a Bollywood star, to talk to city residents and interact with police officials to promote road safety.
