Doon MLA moves court to attend HP assembly budget session

MLA from the Doon constituency of Himachal Pradesh (HP) Ram Kumar Chaudhary, who is an accused in the Jyoti murder case, moved a local court here on Tuesday for permission to attend the budget session of HP assembly.

MLA from the Doon constituency of Himachal Pradesh (HP) Ram Kumar Chaudhary, who is an accused in the Jyoti murder case, moved a local court here on Tuesday for permission to attend the budget session of HP assembly.

The session started on Tuesday and will continue till April 9.

Chaudhary submitted before the court, through his lawyer Amandeep Bindra, that being an MLA from a party in power it was important for him to attend the budget session.

He added that attending assembly sessions were his duty towards the state.

He pled before the court that directions be issued to Panchkula police and superintendent jail, Ambala, for making arrangements for him to attend assembly session in Shimla.

Currently, Chaudhary is in Ambala jail.

Along with the MLA, Paramjit alias Pumma, Dharampal, Tilak Raj and Gurmeet are also accused in the case.

A notice was issued on Tuesday on the MLA's application for reply by the state government for March 14.

Jyoti, a Dalit girl of Bhunga village of Hoshiarpur, was found dead on a road in Sector 21, Panchkula, on November 22, 2012.
