DSW to meet students' union leaders over security issues
Taking serious view of the alleged violent incident between two students groups, the Panjab University (PU) has asked the Chandigarh Police to take stern action against the erring persons involved in the June 18 incident. On the said date, students of panjab university student organisation (PUSU) has clashed among themselves and smashed the rear windshield of a student's car.

PU dean students welfare (DSW) will hold a meeting of the students' leaders of various students' organisations on June 20 to sensitise them on the need of maintaining congenial environment on the campus.
This was conveyed by the PU administration to the Chandigarh Police in a meeting held at DSW's office here on Wednesday. The meeting was convened following the directions from the PU vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Arun K Grover.
The security arrangements at the University were also reviewed during this meeting. DSW (women) professor Kalpana K Mahajan presided over the meeting. Chief of university security Prof Anil Monga, DSP Ashish Kumar and wardens of the hostels participated in the meeting.
Prof Mahajan shared the serious concern expressed by the PU V-C over the untoward incident allegedly involving PU student's leaders. In order to avoid the reoccurrence of such incidents, modalities on having better coordination between PU security staff and police were discussed.
The issues which were discussed during the meeting, included, strict vigilance on unauthorised occupancies in the hostels, discouraging random traffic movements and other related issues.
