Five convicted for kidnapping man, robbing him on knifepoint

Those convicted have been identified as Pooja, Suraj and Deepak, all residents of Sector 25, Kamaljeet of Sector 24 and Janta Colony resident Sandeep. The court will pronounce quantum of sentence on Friday.

UT police had registered a case on complaint of Sector-25 resident Sanjeev on April 20, 2012. As per the complaint the accused had first hit Sanjeev's motorcycle near PGIMER roundabout and had picked up an argument with him accusing him of hitting their car with his motorcycle.

The accused then pulled him in their car and took him to Sector 8, where Sanjeev urged a fruit vendor to pay Rs 1,000 to the accused. But they asked him to pay more money.

Accused Pooja, who worked in Sector 8, was called to the spot by accused Suraj who then had accused him (Sanjeev) of harassing her. The accused later on knifepoint forced Sanjeev to withdraw Rs 5,000 before dumping him in Kishangarh.
